hey hey hey, we don't wanna fight no more 10:53 p.m. & 2001-05-04
I'm not sure what to write about. I'm in that half-exhausted area before sleep and a long way to go yet before I can sleep. I hope Gravity calls me soon, because I doubt I can make it much past 11:30...I am so tired these days.
My first week of work went alright, I think. I like most of the people I'm working with, and this summer should be a lot of fun. I still have the odd urge to kill Jeff, but he's only working a 9-week contract so maybe I won't be forced to act on that. The guys are absolutely fabulous. One of them, Dan, is from Manchester, England, and he has the best sayings. We were briefly in costume yesterday morning, and he managed to get a run in his stocking, which made him say "Blast! I've got a ladder in my tights!" I laughed for quite a while.
We had an actual Jesuit come in to visit us for a bit and tell us more about the Society of Jesus. (If you're at all interested in what any of this stuff means, just let me know or visit the Sainte Marie website.) One of the hardest things for me as an interpreter is the fact that I don't actually know anything about Catholicism, so I'm really interested in learning more about it. The Jesuit is named Michael Knox (ironically enough) and he spoke about many things yesterday that I've been thinking about lately. I think that perhaps this will be the summer of my spiritual awakening.
Sunday is Steve's birthday and his party is tomorrow, so I'm spending the night at his house. I always find that intimidating and I don't know why. But then, I'm never quite comfortable sleeping over at other people's houses. So I've made a cake (chocolate) and he'll get his bloody clapton tickets and hopefully all will be well with the world once again. I've hardly seen him this week at all...briefly Tuesday night and I miss him.
I like Keith, even if I'm the only person in the world who does. But Rodger is still my hero.
