you just don't realize how much I love you

I had the most beautiful, wonderful weekend. It went a little something like this:

Friday - One year ago on this day, Gravity Man drove me home from the coffeehouse and asked me out. This year, to celebrate, we went camping at Six Mile Lake. We left my house at about 2, after seeing some of my oldest friends in the world--Bill and Ruth, an older couple that lived beside my parents in the first house they ever owned. We finally ended up at 6 Mile about two hours later, even though it's only about 30 minutes away. I guess grocery shopping took a lot longer than we thought it would. So we get there, we register, we set up the tent, move ourselves inside. I give Gravity man his presents--a maple moose lollipop, a small notebook with a quilted cover that I made myself, a picture frame, and a gorgeous wooden chess set. And then I get my present: a very pretty ring with a small diamond in it. It looks like a solitaire, almost, but when you look closely, it's just a tiny stone surrounded by an engraved starburst pattern. It's beautiful. I cried like a little girl. We made tacos for supper and had a small campfire, and then went to bed.

Saturday - we wake up around 5 a.m. and cuddle for quite a while, just us and the sound of the rain. Then we fall back sleep and don't end up getting up for real til about 12. We went out in our little rubber dinghy with the plastic oars on the lake, which was all good and well until one of the oars broke, when we were quite far away from shore. Gravity valiantly got into the water and towed us in. When we got back to camp we took a nap (again) until about 8:30, when we made radiatore and 4 cheese sauce for supper. We also played chess, and I lost, as I always do when playing with Gravity Man, which is frustrating.

Sunday- Time to go home...we get up at six, pack up and make our way into Honey Harbour for breakfast, before coming home. What a beautiful, beautiful weekend.

HOME - I still have to do a 12 page layout for the first issue of the newspaper, which my editor wants on Tuesday. I start it on Sunday, which means I have to finish it by noon today at the latest. I am mostly done ('cause I worked my ass off for about 8 hours yesterday) but I'm still waiting on a few ads and other things. GRRR. I should have been done this long before now, but my editor didn't get her act together on time, so now I'm having to pay the price for it.

My ring is so pretty!
