I'm an alien, I'm a legal alien
4:28 p.m. & 15 March 2002

What to do, what to do. Certainly not write my essay for Studies in Shakespeare. I really wanted to have it done today, because as greengrl points out, it is the infamous Ides of March. However, I procrastinated tonnes in the last week and didn't get anything done. I suck.

I've had a good few days go. I was asked today to serve on the Valedictorian Selection Committee, which is pretty sweet. Last night was the Word Society's St. Patrick's Day shindig, which was pretty fun--free pizza and lots of limericks, and a good healthy dose of Professor Hemmings for Kori and me. They also announced the winners of their poetry contest, and I won first place. So it was pretty exciting, I think. I won a copy of the book they produced last year and a $10 gift certificate from the Bull and Quench, which is probably my favourite pub here in north bay. Their wings are super.

I also got to hang out with Greg, which was pretty cool. We (we being Benjamin, Mathman and myself) rented three movies earlier in the week (the Musketeer, Deliverance and the Usual Suspects) and we watched Deliverance last night, and Greg came over to watch it with us. Kori and I had revamped our LustyLesbianLoveAffair act for the evening, and I think we totally blew Greg's mind. In a cruel but funny way. All in all, it was good times. Deliverance was really good, as well, although completely fucked up and not something I'm sure I should recommend to other people to see, but it was quite well done.

OPSEU (Ontario Public Service Employees Union) is on strike right now. This blows giant ass chunks (hey, I've been watching a lot of Kevin Smith these days) because I am (in the summertime) a member of OPSEU. And frankly, I don't want to go on strike for the summer. Granted there's still another month and a half before I go back to work, but I'm being pre-emptive and worrying anyway. Last time OPSEU striked my dad was still actually an OPP officer and he pretty much spent every day on the picket line with them as the official 'police presence' in case anything happened. He was so stressed out by this that he actually developed some pretty severe acne. It was bad.

But in essence if they're still on strike I will not be going back to work this summer and I may end up staying in North Bay for the sake of easiness and simplicity.

This is an intriguing possibility, I must say.
