sweet little heartbreaker
10:36 a.m. & 22 September 2002

Oooh, busy weekend. Mike came up Thursday, which was wonderful--so good to spend time with him. He's very easy to be around, which I really like--just very strong, very comforting. He's neat. I bought him a Mace Windu lightsabre as a present, and he thought that was pretty neat.

I had my job intereview for one of the campus tour guide positions yesterday, and it went well. I'm not technically supposed to know until tomorrow, but my interviewer told me that she will be offering me a job. It will only be, on average, 4-5 hours a week, which is perfect for me--just enough money to keep the wolf from the door.

Friday was also the day of the infamous 'future of the Hibou' meeting with our friends at NUSU, and it went more or less as I expected. They altered their constitution to adopt us, and in doing so, they cut off our balls. NUSU has complete editorial autonomy of the paper; the paper is not allowed to publish more than seven issues per year; each issue can only have a maximum of 250 copies made; NUSU gets free advertising for itself and all of its agents; NUSU owns the copyright on all works published in the Hibou (which is quite possibly illegal).

And so after some research into the Canadian COpyright Act, I have been able to determine that there is no way that NUSU can own copyrights on articles that have been published in the past; and it is also unlikely that they will be able to do so in the future.

And so the madness continues. I have a fair amount of stuff to do today, but no ambition to do any of it. My life has become rather mundane these last few weeks, but I will report any changes to the status quo.
