most times I close my eyes
8:20 p.m. & 04 November 2002

What a weekend. Halloween was pretty cool for the most part. My costume turned out pretty awesome--my lekku didn't look anywhere near as sad as I was afraid they were going to. The whole crew looked pretty awesome--Mathman ended up going as Darth Vader, and Benjamin as the Emperor, leaving Mike as RandomOldSchoolJedi and myself as Ryla Profunda to hold up the light side of the Force. The Wall was okay--my tolerance level for the Wall is usually about 3 hours, which is about how long I lasted that night. The bitter sad part is that it was between me, Mathman and a few other people for best costume until this guy wearing a professionally made movie dragon costume came in...but ah well.

The rest of the weekend was good in that involved plenty of time with Mike, and I am reminded more and more of how absoutely lost I would be without him in my life. (Qualifier: I am well aware that I do quite well on my own in life, and am quite capable of taking care of myself. That said, I do appreciate the time and effort that Mike puts into his relationship with me, and I value his friendship and his love very much). He made me open my presents early, and he gave me a new mini-Carebear (CheerBear--for my third birthday I was given the Birthday Bear I still sleep with, but the re-release of the mini-CareBears did not include a Birthday Bear, so he bought me his CareBear, CheerBear); flannel Girl Power pyjamas from La Senza with the matching mug; a model of the Millenium Falcon; and a scrapbook of our relationship thus far. Such a sweet boy.

He also brought me the pictures that the Squidge, Babar and myself had taken Thanksgiving weekend for our parents. They actually turned out really well, and even though we didn't order any of the other prints, the lab printed two 3.5x5s of each and sold them to Mike for twenty bucks. So now we have a gazillion pictures, but I think my parents will enjoy it. They'd better.

The rest of the weekend was fairly uneventful. I ended up working Saturday, which went quite well, I think, and brings me up to 17 hours for my next paycheque, which is much needed and great. Mike and I went comic book shopping, and while I continue to be denied in my quest to find the comic book version of GhostWorld, we did pick up a copy of Reversi. Reversi is the cheap no-name version of a game I've always known and loved as Othello...something my family has played since the dawn of time. My dad has it on his PalmPilot and I miss it.

Benjamin and Kori had a roast beef supper for me last night, complete with mashed potatoes and yorkshire pudding. They gave me the Neil Finn West 54th sessions and a book called Depraved and Insulting English, which is a scream. My mom sent up a bunch of house-related stuff, including the all-important chocolate fondue kit, and a silicon based spatula that won't melt when I'm making stirfry. Score.

Thank you to everyone who sent birthday wishes--they were well-received and much appreciated. It's good to be loved.
