oh baby I feel so down
10:37 a.m. & 10 November 2002

Bleh. What a grey, rainy Sunday it is outside. Actually, I'm not sure if it is infact raining, but it seems like it ought to be. It would fit the general mood of today, I think.

So yesterday I had to go and fill out my half of my loan application (I'm having to apply for a student line of credit). I went down early with Kroi when she went to work (she works at a bookstore--where's the justice in that?) and hung out there, and the walked down to the bank, which is maybe 5-10 minutes away from her store. And as I'm walking, this guy comes up to me, and he says "Hey miss, can you spare some change for me? I need a cup of coffee." me: "I don't have any change." him: "you sure?" me: "no, I don't have any money on me" (in essence, I don't really have *any* money, hence the bank loan) him: "well, can I have a cigarette?" me: "I don't smoke" him: "how about some pot?" me: "what?" him: "well you look stoned, and your coat smells like pot, so you've gotta have some." me: "zuh?" (internal monologue: just fucking great. you look stoned and you smell like pot. the bank's gonna be all over that. but that doesn't make sense. you don't smoke pot, and it's been probably 2, 3 years since you were around someone while they were...) So we keep walking, and he keeps talking to me about how he wants to steal a van and rob a store or a bank, and how I should be his partner, and I'm really starting to panic at this point 'cause I have no idea where this is going. And finally, we walk past the Jehovah's witness guy, who asks if my new "friend" has read their latest literature and heard the voice of the Lord...and miraculously, he says goodbye to me and starts talking to the Jehovah's Witness. So now I'm indebted to the Jehovah's Witnesses...

The actual bank part went well enough; thankfully I had about five minutes to catch my breath and calm down. I filled out my stuff; basically confirmed that nothing I wrote down would actually matter; and went on my merry way. (My parents are co-signing, so basically my receipt of $$$ is dependent upon them being approved for the loan. Which shouldn't be a problem.)

Just as a side note: when I was hanging out with Kori at Gulliver's, they have an autographed copy of Jeffery Eugenides' new book for sale there and I want it so so very much. Maybe if I get the loan?

Arwyn and I rented Harry Potter and Panic Room, which I think we're going watch today...we had good bonding times.

New Magma is presque fini, or so Ben tells me...I'm going to have to publish it tomorrow, I think.

My feet are cold. I get to go home on Thursday!
