So, home now. People yelling about calculators and science homework. TV on. Squawking. The Squidge has new glasses now and she's totally an emo babe. It's too cool. Jasper's at the back door looking cold and wanting in, but it's not going to happen.
Mike drove up to get me on Tuesday, and we spent Tuesday night in North Bay Rock City, meeting Steph for supper and spending some quiet time together. We came back yesterday, and it was really good. We enjoyed the drive together (or at least I did) and went to Ste. Marie last night for the First Light Festival.
The site is just gorgeous at night. I've only been there at dark maybe four or five times other than this and I always get caught off guard by how pretty it looks. Especially when all the walkways are lined with candles, and there's music and food and people. Wow. What a night it was.
I've been debating my future in relation to Ste. Marie very much lately--I don't know if I can handle another summer there--but after going back, I find myself falling in love with it all over again, and I'm reminded of what a powerful hold that place has on me. So I'm considering my return, once again.
My parents loved the Stuart McLean show. He told a little story about meeting me to the audience, and had everyone clap for my parents. They were pretty excited--I called them after they'd gotten home and they couldn't believe I'd actually had the guts to go up to Stuart McLean and ask him. I guess that's a true mark of how much I have changed since high school.
Mike and I went shopping today and spent lots of money that (mostly) wasn't ours. We picked up a wooden breadbox and satin nightgowns for his mom (from his dad) and CDs for his mom (from him; Paul McCartney, Elvis and the Rolling Stones); the Limited Edition release of 40 Licks for my dad; the 25th anniversary Muppet CD for my mom; a DVD gift set of Frosty/Frosty REturns, Rudolph, and the little Drummer boy/Santa Claus is Coming to Town (for Mike) and the Norah Jones CD (for me). It was good to spend the day together, as he's working almost 35 hours in the next week and I'm hardly going to see him at all, I don't think.
But The Two Towers and Star Trek: Nemesis will be out next week, woo hoo!
I have optometrist and dentist appointments tomorrow, so I should be in a lovely, if sour, mood, as these aer two of my least favourite things ever.
