FAVOURITE RECORDS OF THE YEAR Neil Finn's One All-'cause Neil is the man; far and away the best 'pop' songwriter I can think of in these grey days Ed Harcourt's Here Be Monsters-pretty yet sad music to get drunk to
Sadly, up until I bought Sam Roberts and Wilco the other day, these were the only two 'new' albums I bought this year. As I have not yet had the opportunity to listen to these in depth, I will not comment.
Honorable mentions to: I think here I'll just mention some of the not-so-new acts I've acquired a new respect for this year. Joni Mitchell, Bruce Springsteen, the New Pornographers, Book of Love, Duran Duran, the Pet Shop Boys.
FAVOURITE SHOWS OF THE YEAR Barenaked Ladies, Molson Ampitheatre Neil Finn/Ed Harcourt, Palais Royale Sloan, the Dardanella Stuart McLean, the Capital Centre
DISAPPOINTING ALBUMS OF THE YEAR didn't buy enough to comment
DISAPPOINTING SHOWS OF THE YEAR didn't go to enough to comment
FAVOURITE MOMENTS "almost" meeting Neil Finn; conversation with Stuart McLean; the House of Geek; the Trivial Pursuit drinking game; the publication of Magma; Academianuts; making new friends at SMATH; Mike.
WHAT ONE THING WOULD YOU LIKE TO SEE CHANGE IN MUSIC IN 2002 I'd like to see the good music that is being made get the respect it deserves.
ADDITIONAL COMMENTS This was a long, weird and tough year. I did a lot of things that I never would have thought I could do, and blahblah I feel like I'm a better person and all that. I've had almost all of my perceptions about the world around me challenged, and I think that next year has the potential to be, if nothing else, a pretty good year. See you all there, and thanks for reading :)
