I'm considering making myself a clone high diary theme. I think that would be really neat. Will keep you posted on how that's coming. It'll be a bit more designed advanced anything I've had lately, but I'd like to keep myself from getting flaccid during the summer months.
This entry has the potential to be gargantuan (minus the Pantagruelian aspects...oooh, lame French lit jokes!) so I will attempt to streamline the operation for your reading pleasure.
Saturday: Maple Syrup Festival. My wee town has the second largest festival in Ontario. It was good times. Full of sweet, syrupy goodness. I haven't been to the festival in quite sometime (two-three years) and it was good to be back.
Sunday-Thursday: Return to work at SMATH. Still mixed feelings and reserved judgement. Some things are good: I get an Attractions Ontario card, which gets me into all kind of tourist attractiony goodness for free, like the ROM, and the Metro Toronto Zoo, and a whole bunch of other places. Free mini-golf, guys! A lot of the places are "free admission for employee and one guest", which is super awesome. I love the ROM.
We have a new GM at work, which is interesting. Work on the whole has some sketchy elements this year. We are officially not allowed to have opinions about the war on Iraq, and by not allowed to have opinions, we're supposed to spout the governemnt line about how Ontario is very proud of our connections to the States and how we have pledged our support to the people living there, and I really don't think that's too cool.
It has potential to be a good summer. We went out to Sha-na-na's on Thursday night. It was creepy. Full of cougars, and guys from Midland (yeeks). The music was ass, drinks were expensive, I felt kind of fat and unable to dance at all. But it was still kind of fun, for the most part. A few of my coworkers showed up really, really high and it was quite amusing to watch them. Two of them get high on a fairly regular *coughEVERYDAYcough* so they were fine, but one was just baked with those half-open eyes and goofy smile.
I got a four day weekend, too (my only one of the whole summer) which was pretty neat. Mike's dad turned fifty on the weekend, so there was a big party for that, and yesterday Mike and I went to Barrie, where I spent too much money. We got some cool comics left over from Free Comic Book Day (I picked up an Ultimate X-Men reprint and Mike got a Transformers Armada one) and I bought Mike a Wolverine action figure that apparently is quite cool. The comic book store rules. I bought myself a copy of Dune (which I'm enjoying very much) and a King James Bible. One of my challenges for this summer will be to read that in its entirety, and not just skip over the parts (Leviticus) that I don't like.
