Another day where I NEED TO GET STUFF DONE and only some of it is going to get done. But I will survive, and eventually graduate and maybe even go to grad school and get to be a doctor of philosophy (or letters) and all my friends will invite me to come to the high schools that they teach at for career day and it will be wicked awesome. Maybe.

But I have to get there first.

Not too much is new. I have very belatedly jumped on the white stripes bandwagon, but I must say that I really enjoy them. I also enjoy the New Pornographers immensely, because I was totally born in the wrong decade and should have been a new wave kid back in the 80s. But seriously, the New Pornographers' new album is called Electric Version and I definitely recommend it.

I did do something really cool this week, though. Kori, Arwyn and I drove to Sudbury to see Dr. Lawrence Krauss lecture on "the Physics of Star Trek" at Science North. Basically, the lecture was about the science and technology used in the Star Trek movies and TV series and what parts of it are possible or probable and which parts weren't. I recommend going to see Dr. Krauss if you ever have a chance and he happens to be lecturing near you, because even if you're not a Trekkie, he's really funny and easy to listen to and it's incredibly interesting. Oh, and now I know how to make a warp drive.

The next week is pretty hectic, I've got a million (read: 6) assignments due, but they're all pretty major. Monday is 2-page precis and 25 minute presentation; Tuesday is a test; Wednesday is 2-page precis, test and then a 3 page paper preparation assignment. The presentation tomorrow is actually a puppet show based on Timothy Findley's "Not Wanted On the Voyage", and it should be good if we ever actually start practicing, which at the moment is impeded by a variety of factors, not the least of which is that i'm currently hiding out in my room pretending to be writing a precis on Michel Foucault's Las Meninas. Maybe I should actually do that.

the Squidge's commencement exercises are on Friday of this week and I'm trying to figure out if I actually have time to go home and watch her graduate. She's getting a couple of academic awards and a community service one, and I would like to see that.

Greengrl made me the most adorable and soft and (especially important in North Bay) warm toque and scarf set, and I've developed a bad habit of wearing the toque all the time, inside and out. Basically, I'm imitating Mike Nesmith of the Monkees, only he's a lot cooler than I am. And we all know how cool Mike Nesmith is. I think his mom invented white-out.
