This is too funny. Please, please, please go see it! It's almost undescribable. Although, be warned, it does have explicit language. But it's even better than "Bothering Snape", guys.
On a more serious note, the war on terror has struck blows that are closer to home than I ever would have imagined. If you haven't been following the case of Maher Arar in the media, you really should be, because his case is something that all Canadians and North Americans should be aware of. (In essence, his return to Canada--his country of citizenship--via JFK Airport after a trip to Tunisia ended up getting him deported. To Syria, the country of his birth, despite his Canadian citizenship. Here is a link to Anna Maria Tremonti's interview with him from earlier today. Very powerful and very scary. Even more so because the Canadian government and its agencies (CSIS and the RCMP) are believed by some (the NDP) to be complicit in Arar's detainment, which included torture. The government has no plans to open a formal public inquiry into what exactly went on....maybe we should start lobbying Paul Martin now? A crisis in Orientalism, indeed.
Nothing too much new these last few days. I am accomplishing comparatively little academically, which is not surprising because of my love of procrastination. I rediscovered Yahoo!Euchre, which is also bad.
It snowed 15 cm (6 inches) on Tuesday morning, which resulted in a lot of accidents and the cancellation of my only class, which was sort of exciting. Of course, today it is sunny and very mild out. go figure. It's going to be an interesting winter.
