it takes a strong man baby 12:28 a.m. & 04 December 2003
Arwyn is an exceptionally cool roommate for leaving her laptop inmy care for the weekend and thereby easing my internet anxiety. I've been eating a lot of salt and vinegar chips today and they're starting to feel like I'm eating acid. My tongue is just throbbing right now.
So. An interesting few days, to be sure. I got to sit in on a Faculty of Arts and Science meeting, which was very interesting...I'm beginning to think I'm crazy for even wanting to get into that kind of bureaucratic political BS. But at the same time, I know that English is what I want (let's face it, it's all I have...I am a sad, sad creature).
Kori and I organized the end of term party for the fourth years, which happened on Monday night...it was great fun. The bartender apparently thought I was cute (can't think of anything else to explain why, exactly, he kept giving me double shots in my long island iced tea while only charging me for singles). He also put on REM's "Up" when we first got there (whee! love that album, still) and followed it up with some U2 later on. And yes, he was cute...do you even have to ask? ;) Sometimes I wonder what I would be like if I wasn't dating Mike...would I have had the courage to proceed with something like that?
Speaking of the boy, he is still working (apparently the rumours of early December layoffs were greatly exagerated) and he has a job interview soon for a Flawless magazine, whatever that is. There's something about the title that just screams "skin!" but I guess it could be a beauty mag. If it is a skin mag, I have no real problem with him working there (as long as it's not really explicit or obscene) but I think he should be aware of what that could mean to his future, when he has to explain that his all important "2 years of experience" comes from working for a company that objectifies women.
But school is all done for this term and I will be going home on Friday for almost a whole month!! This is quite exciting. I am doing very well academically (barring any horrific surprises over the next week) and that is always pleasing, because I've been working (I think) fairly hard this term, and I'm glad that (finally) things are starting to pay off.
Now, to write that pesky Findley essay...and set my SSHRC application...bah.
