And so First Light is done, and I am very happy that it is over. It was a lovely three nights, and I am very happy to be in love with Sainte-Marie again. It snowed tonight and that made it all the more magical. I am going to be so sad if I don't get to go back next summer...although moving on might be a good thing.
I'm an idiot, though. A log fell out of the fire, so I picked it up with my bare hand and put it back, earning myself a lovely blister on my index finger. I am le dumb. And somehow, I also ended up with some black paint on my nose. Go figure. The quill pens are great. Everyone was really into them this year, which I attribute to the success of Harry Potter, 'cause Hogwarts is all about the quills.
Kori and Ben came to see me today, and we went to the Chapters in Barrie, and bought books, and it was good! So good! I spent lots, but got lots...a kick ass graphic design book for the boy, and Babar's Yoga for Elephants for my mummy, and the Lemony Snicket unauthorized autobiography for A-Z. There's nothing like buying books to make this kid happy. It's kind of sad, or maybe funny, but buying books is totally the new buying music. If I ever have money after Christmas I'm buying a book of Phillip Larkin's poetry.
We went to Jack Astor's for lunch and they gave us free dessert because it was our first time eating there (though I had eaten there before) and it was really neat. It was just chocolate pudding in a small plastic cup, but they put real whipped cream on it, and it was free. It was just very kind. Jack Astor's is a good restaurant for service, I think.
This entry is whole lots of random...there was other stuff I want to write about, but there are some people I don't want reading it...I don't want to censor myself but I don't want to lapse into that kind of passive-aggressive behaviour where I just write very pointed messages to certain people. So, in essence, once I have dealt with the situation, I will talk about it. HOW'S THAT FOR CRYPTIC?
should write something more, perhaps...but can't think of anything that might be even remotely interesting...TO ANYONE...
