we're all in the mood for a memory 10:25 p.m. & 22 December 2003
So this is a little late, but have you ever tried to share a computer with a sixteen year old and a nineteen year old? It just doesn't happen. The last few days have been pretty busy anyway, what with the knitting and travelling all over southern freaking Ontario and just general trying to get shit done.
But since you are all dying to know, here is the answer to the 18 Lies and 1 Truth contest: Number Six--my dad dated the president of Sony Music Canada when they were in high school. Which means my winners are, Steve, Jo, and Rachele. Hurray to all of them (and everyone else who entered!), and here is some commentary on the lies (done by me with some assistance from that Steve guy).
1) I was originally planning to be an Environmental Science major at Nipissing, but I flunked my first year Geology course and switched to English.
Nope. It's always been English. Except when it was almost History. It really could have gone either way.
2) I've written fanfic for both the Star Wars and Star Trek universes.I've thought about it...but I've just never done it. Unless writing a character sketch for a Star Wars RPG that never got off the ground counts.
3) The first real job I had was working for a house cleaning company. One of the first things I was ever paid for was cleaning someone's house, but my first actual job was at my neighbour's gift shop.
4) My first kiss was when I was fifteen.
I'm king of embarassed at how not true this one is...I actually received my first kiss when I was eighteen. Since then I've kissed four more people.
5) The best class I've ever taken in university was Eighteenth Century Lit with Peterson.
Eighteen Century Lit sucked. A lot. And Peterson really wasn't a great prof. Twentieth Century or PoCo were probably my favourites.
6) My dad dated the president of Sony Music Canada when they were in high school.
As I said, this is the truth. She used to be the head of Much Music, too.
7) I was a big New Kids on the Block fan back in the day, but I never got the Backstreet Boys or N*sync.
Nope. Well...half true. Never got the NKOTB, but never got the others, either, despite the obsessions of my best high school friend and my baby sister with both.
8) I was a girly-girl when I was little and didn't wear track pants until I was in university.
Actually, from the time I was 8 til I was 13, I probably wore dresses a total of ten times. It was all about the tracksuits...and they were stylish!
9) My first cat was named Corky.
My first cat was named Toby. Corky was my cat from the time I was in grade five onwards. He died while I was in France in grade ten and my parents didn't tell me until I came back...three months later. He was a beautiful marmalade long hair, and loved me very much, for some reason
10) I love to fly. If it were economical to fly from North Bay to home, I would.
As Steve put it, "White knuckling and panic attacking all the way...."
11) I am allergic to real Christmas trees.
Real Christmas trees are messy, but where it's at.
12) When I was little I wanted to be a fireman when I grew up.
Paleontologist, yes...fireman, no.
13) The first car I ever drove was a police car. It pays to have a dad in the force.
Steve: "I'm sure you would have LIKED to do that." The first car I drove was a Pontiac Sunfire.
14) I'm certain that summer's my [favourite] season.
It's winter. Anyone catch the Sloan reference? No? Damn.
15) Creed is. THE. BEST. BAND. EVER.
As Steve said, this one practically had tags around it. Sorry,
17) Tequila is most definitely where it's at, if I happen to be drinking.
Unless it's mixed into something else, the tequila is most definitely NOT my friend.
18) I am a sucker for anything with Ashton Kutcher in it. Man-pretty, indeed.
He kinda bugs me, and I thought Punk'd was awful.
19) After finishing school, getting married is the most important thing in my plans for the future.
"Only after you become a professor, write the great Canadian novel, and try
to unseat me from the office of the prime minister. Then, maybe marriage." Oh Steve--haven't you learned anything from Star Wars? There is no try. There is only do. Or do not. And I most certainly do.
