I'll take you by surprise and make you realize
10:23 a.m. & 02 February 2004

Time to update. Time also to stop being an arrogant self-obsessed bitch, but is that likely to ever happen. Probably not. In my own arrogant, self-obsessed way, I like me the way I am...I think. Maybe not.

I thought I had written a long, ranty entry about not getting my transcripts from the CUSB in Winnipeg, but apparently it wasn't a ranty entry so much as conversations with people on MSN, which I somehow thought I had written about here. Basically, the summer before I started writing here, I took a summer language bursary and packed my ass off to Winnipg to live in the French quarter and learn how to speak French for the summer. It was awesome, except that it was university level work, and it is damn near impossible to get transcripts from these people, which, as we all know, is very bad, because applying for grad school and scholarships means I need about ten transcripts. I called them on January 5th, gave them my address and relevant credit card information, and was promised that they would be here in time for my SSHRC application. And they never showed up. Fortunately, it seems I don't need them for the SSHRC, because, well, they're still not here. So I emailed them on Friday, being all "WTF, mates?" and got this charming answer, "Your transcripts are being sent today. Sorry for the delay."

Sorry for the delay? I was promised they would be sent three weeks ago...I kind of need them. A LOT. Gah. The worst part is that this is only a three credit course...bah.

Other than that things are mostly good...I got to see "Love Actually" last night as part of an "anti-superbowl" thing at the Capitol Centre. What a charming movie. I love me some Colin Firth. And I got to see it with Jo, so it is all good.

I did the Paris seminar this morning and I think it went well...I hope it went well. The prof is a notoriously hard marker, but she likes me and Kori, and we like her a lot too. It's over, at any rate, so goodbye, 30% (or whatever) of my mark. See you around sometime.

Other than that, my weekend was pretty not productive, which was fine as I didn't have anything particularly pressing to do. I did get the boy the last bits of his birthday present, and I am excited to see what he will think of it. I bought him the "His Dark Materials" trilogy (Philip Pullman) as I've heard it's quite good, and I also bought him three Barbie dolls. It's funny to read that sentence, but if you say the dolls (or knew the boy) it would make much more sense: the dolls are Barbie as Batgirl, Supergirl and Wonderwoman. And we all know the boy is all about his toys and his comic books. Sometimes it is hard to remember that it is he who is nearly two years older than me. Such a crazy kid.

That's about it for now. What's new with you?
